Coler-Goldwater Specialty Hospital and Nursing Facility on Roosevelt Island, New York, is comprised of the Coler Campus, opened in 1951, on the north end, and Goldwater Campus, opened in 1939, on the south end. Both campuses house a long-term care hospital and a nursing facility.
Renovation of the Coler Campus Atrium included the demolition of the existing Atrium, along with the demolition of the flooring, which is below the vinyl floor tile, and the existing finishes. Electrical fixture disconnection, removals and installations were made. Removal of the existing cooling and ventilation system was replaced with a new, tempered fresh air H.V.A.C. system. New Smoke/Duct detectors tied into the Facility’s Fire Alarm System was completed. Provision of a new Atrium assembly, thermo-pane low-e glazing, new flooring substrate and new esthetic finishes, such as vinyl flooring, window treatments and a new painted interior completed the job. The total cost was approximately $450,000.
