On August 7, 2007, Metropolitan Hospital Center held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the installation of the facility’s new Robot RX Pharmacy Delivery system. Jose R. Sanchez, SVP, and Meryl Wienberg, Executive Director was joined by NYS Senator Jose Serrano, Councilwoman Melissa Mark-Viverito and other members of the Metropolitan family in a ceremony to officially open the new Robot RX Pharmacy Delivery system.
The guests were thrilled with the features of the new system, which accurately dispenses medications to the inpatient units and automatically tracks inventory. The automated bar coding system will support the next phase of medication management, “point of care at the bedside.”
The new suite was designed by Metropolitan’s Capital Construction Office in conjunction with McKesson RX Robotics and constructed, equipped and outfitted at a total cost of $1.6 million.
