The new state of the art 360,000 SF QUEENS HOSPITAL CENTER opened its doors for the community use in December 2001. The hospital provides 243 beds as well as major diagnostic and treatment facilities including emergency and ambulatory care, women’ health, physical medicine, surgical and labor and delivery suites, radiology, radiation therapy, clinical laboratories, pharmacy and the necessary support services. It offers three centers of excellence: Women’s Health, Cancer Care and Diabetes Management.
All inpatient bedrooms are private or semi-private each with bathrooms and large windows. Skylit lobbies at two entrances are connected by a 150 foot long two-story glazed space. The existing N building is connected to the new facility by means of a 25 foot high white steel tube-trussed atrium connected by an escalator to the second floor balcony, offering light, airy and attractive environment.
