For the past two decades, Segundo Ruiz Belvis Diagnostic & Treatment Center-a community-based primary care facility-has provided health services to entire families, from the elderly to infants.
We have formed partnerships with both the private sector and our community to continue delivering quality care to the people of the South Bronx. For example, a partnership with the SUNY School of Optometry now enables us to provide quality eye care in a cost-effective manner. Similar mutually beneficial partnerships include our role as training sites for Lutheran Medical Center's Dental Residency Program and Pace University's Nurse Practitioner students. We are also a major preceptor site for the training of medical students from New York Medical College and participate in Blake Business School's Nurse's Aides training program.
Partnerships within our network are also important to our success. One of these, a continuing agreement with Metropolitan Hospital for labor and delivery, meets a significant community need. Our growing partnerships with neighborhood schools allow us to emphasize wellness programs. Through the Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures program, we perform more than 500 dental screenings on elementary and Headstart students in the Colgate Dental Mobile every year.
